Legacy Points: Leveling Gets You 11 of 16 (WoW Forever)
At launch, each WoW Forever character can spend up to 16 Legacy points. Levelling one character to 60 with two crafting professions earns about 11 by NOHITJEROME's count; gathering professions earn none. Blizzard's own Legacy post says every advantage can be unlocked on a single character, and in the sentence before, that the system encourages levelling multiple characters. The guides answer with alts used as banks you mail materials to. Ion Hazzikostas told PC Gamer that mailing items from your main to your alt isn't in anyone's interest, and that an account-wide bank is something they could see adding in the not-too-distant future. No date yet. An obituary for the one-character Legacy, and one request: date the bank.

Step three is to start the alt character. Think of it like your bank. You're mailing all your greens, your ores, your herbs.

taking out the extra couple of steps of having to mail items manually from your main to your alt—logging over, taking them out of the mail, I don't know that's in anyone's interest

Obituaries — the cap
Sixteen Legacy points per character at launch1, and here's what levelling to sixty gets you, by NOHITJEROME's count2:
That's five short.
Obituaries — the post
Blizzard's post: "All character advantages can be unlocked on a single character"3, and one line up, the system "encourages players to level multiple characters"4. Optional, the way a coat's optional in Winterspring.
Obituaries — the bank
The guide's alt is a bank you mail herbs to5. Ion Hazzikostas on that6: "I don't know that's in anyone's interest." An account bank, maybe, in "the not-too-distant future"7.
Obituaries — cause of death
I picked herbs on my lock all through the Barrens, and herbs don't earn a single point8. Cause of death: not required. Date the bank, you lot.
I'll be here. Forever.
