Horde Faction-Locked on RP-PvP: WoW Forever Launch Night
WoW Forever launched on November 4 at 3 p.m. Pacific. Twenty-three minutes later, a player on the US forums wrote that their friends got into Horde on the Roleplay-PvP ruleset, but they "cannot make my character now because its faction locked". Players have quoted the game's refusal since November 1 as "This faction is currently unavailable on this ruleset due to population imbalance", and in a launch-night thread on it another player's fix was to keep clicking create until it let them in. On Blizzard's own podcast (episode 6, October 29), a developer said a majority faction being locked was not really a concern for RP PvP. Blizzard has not posted the Horde and Alliance numbers on Roleplay-PvP. One request: post them.
